Common problems with air conditioning systems:
If your unit is not functioning properly, try following these simple steps, which often times can solve basic problems with a unit.
If your unit is...
Not Cooling
- Move the thermostat to the OFF position, and wait 5 minutes. then turn back ON.
- Check batteries, replace as needed.
- Check circuit breakers. Turn breakers to the OFF position, then back to ON.
- If equipped with a furnace, confirm the electrical cord is plugged in securely. Make sure access panel is securely in place.
- Move the thermostat system switch to the COOL position and set the temperature dial below room temperature.
- If the system still doesn't cool, call for service.
Not Heating
- Turn the thermostat to the OFF position, wait 15 minutes, then turn back ON.
- Check batteries, replace as needed.
- Check that the gas supply is turned on.
- If equipped with a pilot light, check that it is lit.
- Check that the gas valve inside the furnace is on.
- Check the circuit breaker by turning to the OFF position, then back to ON.
- Check that the electrical cord is plugged in securely. Make sure access panel is securly in place.
- Move the system switch to HEAT position and set the temperature dial above room temperature.
- If the unit still doesn't heat, call for service.
