Troubleshooting Guide

Common problems with air conditioning systems:

If your unit is not functioning properly, try following these simple steps, which often times can solve basic problems with a unit.

If your unit is...

Not Cooling

  1. Move the thermostat to the OFF position, and wait 5 minutes. then turn back ON.
  2. Check batteries, replace as needed.
  3. Check circuit breakers. Turn breakers to the OFF position, then back to ON.
  4. If equipped with a furnace, confirm the electrical cord is plugged in securely. Make sure access panel is securely in place.
  5. Move the thermostat system switch to the COOL position and set the temperature dial below room temperature.
  6. If the system still doesn't cool, call for service.

 

Not Heating

  1. Turn the thermostat to the OFF position, wait 15 minutes, then turn back ON.
  2. Check batteries, replace as needed.
  3. Check that the gas supply is turned on.
  4. If equipped with a pilot light, check that it is lit.
  5. Check that the gas valve inside the furnace is on.
  6. Check the circuit breaker by turning to the OFF position, then back to ON.
  7. Check that the electrical cord is plugged in securely. Make sure access panel is securly in place.
  8. Move the system switch to HEAT position and set the temperature dial above room temperature.
  9. If the unit still doesn't heat, call for service.
